On December 14,Dióssi Lóránd, Consul General of the Hungarian Consulate General in Chongqing,Lili Siklós, Science and Technology Commissioner of the Hungarian Embassy in China, and Zhang Mei, Deputy Director of the Project Management Department of the China-Hungary Technology Transfer Centerand Chongqing Hi-Tech Incubation Center, visited Southwest University.In May of this year, theChinese-Hungarian Cooperative Research Center for Food Science, jointly built by Southwest University and the Hungarian National Agricultural Research and Innovation Centre (NARIC), was officially put into operation. This is the first cooperative research laboratory in the food field jointly established by China and Hungary. The purpose of the visit was to conduct an on-site investigation into the center's progress, deepen bilateral scientific and educational cooperation, and promote the implementation of follow-up cooperative projects.

Zhou Changyong, Vice President of Southwest University, met with the visiting delegation. He extended a warm welcome to the guests and expressed sincere gratitude to the China-Hungary Technology Transfer Center,Chongqing Hi-Tech Incubation Centerand Chongqing Science and Technology Bureau for their long-term strong support for the university’s international scientific research cooperation and talent cultivation.
Both Consul GeneralDióssi Lórándand CommissionerLili Siklósonce studied in Chongqing and have deep affection for Chongqing’s regional culture and characteristic delicacies. Vice President Zhou Changyong hoped that both sides would seize the development opportunities of the Belt and Road Initiative, take food culture as a distinctive bridge, and build a broader and deeper bilateral cooperation platform based on the national cultural heritage and disciplinary and industrial advantages of the two countries, so as to continuously advance regular exchanges and practical cooperation between universities of China and Hungary.

During the seminar, Consul GeneralDióssi Lórándelaborated on the current situation of bilateral trade and multi-field cooperation between China and Hungary. He stated that Hungary is willing to expand multi-dimensional and wide-ranging exchanges and cooperation with Southwest University, and will actively coordinate and resolve various problems in the process of cooperation to ensure the steady implementation of cooperative projects.
Science and Technology CommissionerLili Siklóssystematically reviewed the development process and latest progress of Sino-Hungarian scientific and technological cooperation. She proposed that on the basis of the sound cooperative foundation in food science, both sides should further expand cooperation in frontier disciplines such as biology and life sciencesto enrich the connotation of bilateral scientific research cooperation.
The seminar was presided over by Tan Zhimin, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges. Zhou Daming, Party Secretary of the College of Food Science, Duan Shukai, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Department, Professor Kan Jianquan and Associate Professor Du Muying, Chinese project leaders of the 2016 Sino-Hungarian International Science and Technology Cooperation Key Project, attended the forum.

After the seminar, Consul GeneralDióssi Lórándand his entourage visited theChinese-Hungarian Cooperative Research Center for Food Science, and gained an in-depth understanding of the center’s scientific research platform construction, team allocation and project progress.
