College Profile
The College of Food Science, as the oldest established in the key Universities directly subordinated
to theState Agricultural Department, holds the discipline of Agricultural Product Processing and Storage which isthe
key discipline authorized by the State Agricultural Department . We are the oldest major to offer theMaster degree
in the high agricultural universities over the China. In 1998, we were authorized the Doctoraldegree by the State
Council in the major of Agricultural Product Processing and Storage, the only one in theSouthwest and Northwest area
of China (including 11provinces and municipality). And in 2000, we succeedin the Doctoral degree in Tea Science.

About the Laboratory
The China-Hungary Belt and Road Joint Laboratory on Food Science (in preparation, hereinafter
referred to as"the Joint Laboratory") was approved for construction in October 2024 and included in the fourth batch
ofnational Belt and Road Joint Laboratories. Hosted by Southwest University, the laboratory is co-developed by
theCollege of Food Science, College of Agronomy and Biotechnology, College of Economics and Management,College of
Journalism and Communication and College of Plant Protection, with the Hungarian University ofAgriculture and Life
Sciences as its overseas partner. Sino-Hungarian cooperation dates back to 2003. Upgradedfrom the China-Hlungary
Food Science Cooperation Rescarch Center founded in 2017, the laboratory serves as akey long-term platform for
bilateral food science and technology collaboration.
