On the afternoon of March 14, Dr. Gao Zili, an alumnus of Southwest University and currently conducting research at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, delivered an academic report entitled “The Heat Shock Cognate 70 Protein is a Novel Target for Nobiletin and Its Metabolites in Colon Cancer Cells” in the lecture hall of No.39 Teaching Building. The report was hosted by Professor Zhang Yuhao, Vice Dean of the College of Food Science, and was attended by many backbone teachers and graduate student representatives.

At the beginning of the report, Professor Zhang Yuhao briefly introduced Dr. Gao Zili’s educational background and academic research focus. Subsequently, Dr. Gao gave a detailed introduction to Nobiletin, andillustrated the inhibitory effect and functional mechanism of Nobiletin and its metabolites on target proteins in cancer cells. By comparing with the upcoming anticancer drug 17AAG, he intuitively demonstrated the excellent anticancer efficacy and synergistic effects of Nobiletin and its metabolites. In the end, Dr. Gao expressed sincere gratitude to his alma mater and mentors for their long-term cultivation and support. He also delivered earnest expectations to the graduate students present, encouraging younger students to broaden their global vision through overseas study, devote themselves to academic research, strive for excellence in study, and win glory for Southwest University.

After the report, students present stated that they were deeply inspired and benefited greatly. The series of regular academic lectures held by the college effectively fosters a vigorous academic atmosphere, broadens the research vision of teachers and students, and strongly supports the high-quality development of research in food science and related fields.
