Director of the International Office at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, lan MacDonld, Visits the College for a Discussion

At 9:00 a.m. on September 19,Ian MacDonald, Director of the International Office of the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, visited our college for an exchange seminar. He was accompanied by Huang Lei, Regional Marketing DirectorforNorth Asiaof the University of Canterbury, and Wang Jun from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchangesof Southwest University. The seminar was presided over by Zhou Daming, Party Secretary of the College of Food Science. Zeng Kaifang and Zhang Yuhao, Vice Deans of theCollege, as well as Hu Zi, graduate counselor, attended the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, Party Secretary Zhou explained the College's disciplinary structure, international student training, and Sino-foreign cooperative education, and briefly introduced the existing Food Science Research Center jointly established by the Chinese and Hungarian ministries of agriculture. Subsequently, Director lan MacDonld gave a detailed account of the University of Canterbury's strengths in joint training and in food processing and safety, food science and engineering, and product design. He also held in-depth discussions with Dean Zeng and Dean Zhang on issues related to the safety, logistics management, and sales promotion of New Zealand food products such as dairy products, honey, and kiwifruit,and these discussionsare expected to promote basic research. Party Secretary Zhou expressed the willingness to work with the University of Canterbury to strengthen student exchange and cooperation and to facilitate the launch of short-term international student exchange programs.

The successful holding of the seminar effectively strengthened exchanges and cooperation between the college and the University of Canterbury. It laid a solid foundation for further bilateral scientific research cooperation and talent exchanges, and helped broaden students’ international academic vision and enhance their innovative and practical capabilities.
