To help graduate students learn about postgraduate education and scholarship opportunities at world-renowned universities and boost their overseas exchange and study, the College of Food Science held a National Government-Sponsored Study Abroad Exchange Meeting in Lecture Hall 312, No.39 Teaching Building at 9:30 a.m. on November 13, 2020. Professor Zhang Yuhao, Dean of the College of Food Science, Professor Fu Yu, Assistant Dean, Zhang Yuanying, teacher in charge ofgovernment-sponsored study programs of the Graduate School Training Office, Yuan Xiameng, Foreign Affairs Secretary of the college, and Chen Lu, Graduate Teaching Secretary of the college, attended and delivered introductory presentations. Doctoral and master’s students of the college participated actively in the event.


At the beginning of the meeting, students watched the live broadcast of the 12th International Graduate ScholarshipFair. The live event systematically interpreted national policies, basic conditions and scholarship programs forgovernment-sponsoredoverseas study.

Dean Zhang Yuhao elaborated on the significance and necessity of studying and exchanging at overseas key universities. He encouraged all graduate students to take the initiative in academic planning, actively apply for national government-sponsored study programs, broaden their international academic horizons and improve comprehensive professional capabilities.

Afterwards, Yuan Xiameng, the college’s Foreign Affairs Secretary who once served at the China Scholarship Council, gave a detailed interpretation of the current nationalgovernment-sponsoredoverseas study policies, sorted out the application qualifications, procedures and time schedules of various programs, and provided targeted guidance for students to formulate personalized overseas study application plans based on their academic conditions.

During the exchange session, Assistant Dean Fu Yu shared his valuable experience and insightsintoapplying for the nationalgovernment-sponsoredprogram and studying in Denmark. Chen Lu, Graduate Teaching Secretary, elaborated on key preparations and notes for current students applying forgovernment-sponsoredprograms. Xiao Li, a 2018-grade graduate student majoring in Food Science, also shared practical application experience based on her personal application journey. At the end of the meeting, Zhang Yuanying from the Graduate School answered students’ on-site questions concerning program application, document preparation and procedure advancement.
The exchange meeting effectively deepened graduate students’ understanding of nationalgovernment-sponsoredoverseas study policies and application procedures, clarified their overseas study planning ideas, and provided professional guidance and valuable experience for students to prepare for further study abroad and formulate scientific overseas study plans.
