On the morning of June 16, ProfessorJia-Sheng Wangfrom the College of Public Health at the University of Georgia visited the College for academic exchange activities and touredthe China-Hungary Belt and Road International Cooperation Pavilion for Food Science.

Professor Wang delivered a compelling presentation titled "Modulations of Gut Microbiome and Microbial Metabolome by Green Tea Polyphenols" in Lecture Hall 215, Building 39, and engaged in cordial exchanges with the faculty and students in attendance.

Drawing on his long-term research foundation and experience in preventive medicine, food safety, environmental health, and chronic disease prevention and control, Professor Wang systematically elaborated on the potential associations between food safety risk factors and the development of chronic diseases, with a particular focus on the mechanisms of green tea polyphenols in cancer prevention, bone health maintenance, and the prevention of neurodegenerative diseases. The presentation was informative, comprehensive, objective, and accessible, earning rounds of applause from the faculty and students in attendance. During the Q&A session, participants engaged in in-depth discussions with Professor Wang on topics including the differential effects of monomeric versus complex forms of bioactive compounds, research methodologies for gut microbiota, and approaches to selecting research topics. Professor Wang encouraged young students to maintain initiative and critical thinking at all times, to face setbacks courageously in the research process, to broaden their academic horizons, and to continuously enhance their ability to solve complex scientific problems.

After the meeting, Professor Wang listened attentively to the presentation on the construction process and achievements of the China-Hungary Belt and Road Joint LaboratoryofFood Science (inpreparation), as well as the disciplinary development, research priorities, and internationalization plans of the College of Food Science.
