Leaders from Beibei District Investment Promotion Bureau and Experts from Peking University Visit the China-Hungary Belt and Road Joint Laboratory of Food Science (in preparation)

On June 30, 2026, a delegation including Tian Wei, Deputy Director of the Beibei District Investment Promotion Bureau; Zhang Zhiyang, Director of the Digital Medicine Center at the Peking University East China Institute of Life Sciences Industry; and Gao Rencheng, Director of the Peking University Synthetic Biology Center (inpreparation), visitedthe China-Hungary Belt and Road Joint Laboratory of Food Science (in preparation)for an inspection and exchange visit. Zhang Yu, Senior Experimentalist of the College, accompanied the delegation throughout the visit and provided detailed explanations.

Zhang Yu extended a warm welcome to the visiting leaders and experts, and provided a comprehensive overview of the development history of the College of Food Science at Southwest University and the construction progress ofthe China-Hungary Belt and Road Joint Laboratory of Food Science (in preparation). She noted that the College, with over forty years of academic accumulation, has established a disciplinary system centered on Food Science and Engineering with a distinctive feature in Tea Science, and has become a western China hub for talent cultivation, scientific innovation, and industrial services in the food field. She highlighted the laboratory's construction milestones and the outcomes of Sino-Hungarian cooperation, pointing out that the laboratory has built an international collaborative bridge, fostering in-depth cooperation and collaborative innovation between China and Hungary in food science.

Zhang Yu also systematically presented the College's major research breakthroughs across multiple fields, as well as its achievements in technology transfer and social services. In recent years, the College has closely aligned with major national strategies and produced a number of influential outcomes in areas such as carbohydrates, fruits and vegetables, and animal-derived foods, making positive contributions to local economic and social development.

During the exchange session, both sides held in-depth discussions on topics such as interdisciplinary collaborative research, international scientific research collaboration, and empowering local industries, and reached a unified consensus on opening up channels for the application of university research achievements and deepening integrated industry-academia-research innovation. All parties stated that they would take this visit and exchange as a starting point for cooperation, pool resources from all sides, leverage their respective strengths, and jointly promote food science and technology innovation and industrial quality upgrading, taking concrete actions to serve national development strategies and local economic development.
